REHOMING
This branch does not have an Animal Centre and is unable to accept unwanted animals from the public. Our role is to assist the RSPCA Inspectors and Animal Collection Officers who are dealing with abused and at-risk animals. These animals are cared for in private boarding establishments used by the branch.
Please
help us to rescue and rehome more animals by making a donation.
Read our "Happy endings" page for news of some of our successful rehomings.
Adopting an animal from us
All our animals are neutered, microchipped and vaccinated prior to rehoming which is included in the adoption fee which is a small donation towards the cost of the above:
Dogs - £95 Cats - £60 Kittens £80 Rabbits - £20
If you would like to meet the animal or know more about them, we can arrange for one of our volunteers to meet you at one of the boarding establishments. The Branch will carry out a home visit before you adopt an animal from us. We will discuss with you all the requirements of the pet you have chosen and it also an opportunity for you to ask questions. We follow RSPCA guidelines when rehoming our animals and on occasions we may have to say no.

Magic
October 2011
Magic has had his world turned upside down - but that is all to the good, as it was not a happy world.
He lived in a bare kennel in an enclosure with little human contact so he developed behavioural issues and was constantly barking. His owner was considering euthanasia. Thankfully a colleague of his owner alerted us to his plight. Our behaviourist met Magic and knew that she could help him, so the process started to get him away from his situation and within weeks he had moved into her home along with her pack of dogs, a cat who thinks he is a dog, and a chicken.
Magic gets along famously with everyone nowadays, he is such a contented boy. And, whilst he still has little issues such as household noises which startle him, he is improving daily.
The dog you see today bears no resemblance to the dog we met in August and, to show how clever he is, he has learned all his commands in English when he only knew Polish commands previously.
We wouldn't want to rehome Magic with children because of his noise sensitivity but, at only 18 months old, he has a long and happy life waiting out there; we just have to find it for him.
Roxy
November 2011
Roxy is a Staffie who is quite incapable of standing still - nearly all our photographs of Roxy are action shots; she doesn't need any impetus to run, she just does it for fun, chasing balls is ok but she's not for bringing them back! We were told initially that she was 8 months old but her age has now been calculated at between 3-4 years and sometime in her past she has had puppies. Her past is not great but it is her future we are more interested in.
She was brought in by an Inspector a little underweight but on the whole well looked after but, apart from house trained, untrained in any way. She is a sweet little thing and would make a great companion for an adult family or oner with older children - her dashing about would probably result in small children being knocked over.
Staffies adore people and find kennels particularly difficult and Roxy is no exception. When we took her to the vet to be neutered, she had to have two teeth removed as she was chewing the bars of her kennel due to frustration and they had broken off.
March update: Roxy was struggling in kennels, staffies are such people-friendly dogs and they get so stressed in a kennel environment, so we asked around and were very lucky that one of our lovely fosterers had space for our girl. Roxy is just loving being part of a family, she has gained weight, her coat is glossy and more importantly she is enjoying herself. She is house-trained and loves going for her walks. When she was with us she used to be frantic when we were exercising her but, now that it is a regular occurrence, she walks well on her harness and takes no interest in other dogs. Roxy has been in our care since October 2011 and, although she is now enjoying a foster home, she really needs her own home where she will be loved and cherished for the rest of her life. If you think Roxy could fit into your life please call us.
Sonny
January 2012
Sonny is a 4-year-old crossbreed. We know nothing of his heritage but with his little bowed front legs, we suspect Spaniel in there somewhere.
He is a shy little lad but, once he knows you, he loves to play and run - boy does he like to run! He is a youngster and is coped up in a kennel for too many hours a day so his little bit of exuberance is totally understandable and forgivable.
He is quite a well behaved young lad; I took him to the vet recently for his innoculations and, whilst he didn’t enjoy the car journey, he wasn’t noisy - just whimpered. As soon as we got there he leapt out and endeared himself to his audience with his charm.
Sonny needs to be in a home where he will have the chance to run around
a garden, probably with older children (5+) not tinies as he may knock
them over whilst playing.
If you would like to offer Sonny a home please call us.
Rosie
February 2012
Rosie came into our care via the vet where she had been taken after being “found” on a farm locally.
Initially, we were told that she was about 9 months old, however, that has now been re-assessed as between 3-4 years. Unfortunately, she has recently been diagnosed with arthritis in her hind hips - not bad enough to take medication, but we have put her on a Cortoflex supplement (the canine equivalent to Glucosamine) which should help her.
She was quite nervous when she came to us but she is gaining in confidence daily. She will need an experienced Collie owner as she is very nervous around other dogs – yet fine in the kennels.
If you would like to know more about Rosie, please call us. Despite her little problems, she is a young girl with a lot of life ahead of her.
Jackson
April 2012
Jackson is a real joker, from his pirate eye patch to his lovely grin, he is such a lovely, loving boy.
He is a Staffie-cross and 2-3 years old. He has lived with children and other dogs with no problems.
He loves his playtime, is eager to please, recalls well and adores being made a huge fuss of.
Jackson is a big, strong boy so, ideally, we would be looking for an experienced Staffie owner and, because of his size, wanting him to live with older children rather than babies.

Poppy
September 2011
Here
is a little beauty. Poppy (black with a bit of brown) is between 1 and
2 years old.
She is very playful and very friendly.
She is already neutered and vaccinated. She is also litter trained so would make a fantastic house rabbit.
If you have a young male rabbit that would like the company of a very pretty lady rabbit, please call Ewa on 07817 113817.
