Sainsbury's keep out the cold!

November 2011

Sainsbury's collectorsOnce again we had a collection day at Sainsburys - we made £171 and a shopping basket of food! This will help keep the wolf from the door in these dark winter days when fund raising is at its lowest and everyone is, quite rightly, thinking of Christmas. We can't thank Olwyn from Sainsburys enough, or the generous customers who shop there, for their kindness in thinking of our rescue animals at this time.

Sainsbury's coats

If you would like to support your local RSPCA charity and help feed the creatures in our care over this winter period then pop along on the 1st & 2nd December where we will be once again in Sainsbury's looking forward to meeting everyone.

Also thanks to Sainsbury’s, this little mite (on the right) can keep warm in the snugly coat donated by them; she is in foster care along with her little sister having been signed over to our care - it is lovely to see the recipients of Sainsbury's kindness so content.

The continued support we receive from Sainsbury's and their customers is amazing - we can only say THANK YOU!.

Rising Sun Nurseries provides another ray of hope

September 2011

We already have so much to be grateful to the Rising Sun Nurseries for, and yet again they are holding their October Book Fair with all proceeds going to support the work of our Branch.

We will have volunteers popping along to answer any questions and it would be lovely to meet everyone.

We can’t thank the Rising Sun Nurseries enough for all their support over the years and hope to make this October the biggest ever. They have books to suit all tastes. Hopefully, we will see you there.

Sainsbury's generosity

September 2011

Sainsbury's Sept 2011

Sainsbury had a sudden cancellation for a store collection and our Guardian Angel, Olwyn, asked if we could step in.

No sooner said than done when Yvonne, our fundraiser-in-chief, marshalled her army of volunteers to Sainsbury's - we had a very successful day raising over £400 from the generous shoppers and, to add to our delight, we had a trolley which was filled with goodies for the dogs and cats in our care.

The happy looking chicken on top of the trolley has gone down a storm with the canines, who just love their toys.

All our thanks to Sainsbury's for this opportunity, and to Yvonne for making sure we could use it!.

August 2011

Sainsbury's generosityThe Branch have been fortunate enough to sign a contract with Sainsbury's of Nantwich which allows Sainsbury's to donate all their spoiled pet products to the Branch for a whole year. This is a fantastic bonus for the Branch as the food bill can be very high with the many hungry mouths we have to feed.

Cat litter, so necessary and so expensive, is also included in the contract.

As if that wasn't enough Sainsbury's also allow us front-of-shop space for our collections. We are so grateful both to Sainsbury's and for the generosity of the many shoppers who pop their change into our collection boxes, without which we wouldn't be able to carry out the work we do for the animals in our local area.

We can't thank Sainsbury's enough for considering the Crewe Nantwich & District Branch.

Dog Show

5th June 2011, Stapeley Grange

Dog Show 2011

Another Dog Show, another rainy day, but we all had great fun; crowding in the tent has become part of the charm and all the dogs just get on famously with no bad tempered exchanges.

Here is a small selection of the photographs taken on the day:

Not as many of our rehomed dogs made it back to us this year but those that did come were a wonderful sight, they are all doing so well and took many prizes home with them:

Two of Bruno's and Maisie's puppies came back to see us at the Dog Show. Two lovely lads who were as pleased to see each other as we were to see them, they licked each other and played as if they had never been parted - Henry & Fletch; beautiful boys and a joy to see again.

We would like to thank everyone who attended and made the day such a special event for all of us; it is hard work and it nearly always rains, but when we all have such a great time it is worth every bit of effort. Thank you again and hopefully we will see you all next year.

Fantastic Fundraising by the Rising Sun Nursery

March 2011

Staff from Rising Sun NurseryThe Rising Sun Nursery, Middlewich Road, Crewe, has done a magnificent job in raising much needed funds for the Crewe Nantwich & District Branch of the RSPCA. The Thomas family, Peter, Mary and Andrew (owners of the Nursery) and their great friend Christine handed over the princely sum of £4,180 to Ken Parkes our Branch Chairman.

This is a significant amount of money which will help us continue the work we do in the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of animals in the immediate area.

They are such dedicated animal lovers that they devote floor space within their nursery where donated goods are sold on behalf of the Branch.

In October last year, when the nursery didn’t require as much space for plants, they held a book sale for the entire month – there were more books there than in many libraries and it was so successful it will probably be repeated this year.

This is the second year we have been the fortunate recipients of the Thomas family’s generosity and we are grateful for such dedicated sponsors.

Pictured from right to left are Christine, Mary Thomas, Andrew Thomas, Ken Parkes and Pam Parkes (our Welfare Officer); Peter Thomas, who is camera shy, was watching from behind the camera.
